Whether you are a tourist who has crossed continents to get here or hopped across from a neighbouring nation, a migrant from another state or a bride who has joined her husband in his city, the prospect of exploring new market places is both exciting and daunting at the same time. Allow us to do some hand-holding for you. India has so much to offer in terms of variety and shopping experiences. No two cities are the same and no two markets in a city are similar. Shopkhoj seeks to help tourists, visitors and residents zero in on the best markets and shops India has to offer across popular cities. The mission is to help women find shopping destinations within a city, an area, a product category or price range in the virtual world before they set out to do their shopping in the real world. Surely, women are interested in clothes, jewellery, accessories, handicrafts and furnishing? For starters that is what we are focusing on. We have local women from six cities providing information on the best shops to visit in a particular area for specific products. The factual reviews of shops are based both on individual experience and popular perception. The categories that interest women the most have been included accompanied by most popular sub-categories. Namely: Clothes: Indian Wear Sarees, Salwars Suits, Lehangas; Western Wear Tops, Trousers, Skirts and Evening Wear.
